Really, Really Gross Dream...

Okay, I had a dream the other night and it sure in the heck wasn't the "great American dream!"

I dreamed that I was taking a college class and the professor told us that we had to eat our feces!!! Gross, I know... The class was told that it was absolutely required and if we didn't do it we would flunk. We were to write a paper on the experience.

I watched as many of students were trying different things so that they could stomach doing it. One lady made soup and had her little "turds" floating in it and was trying to gag it down. It was too much for me and so I rebelled. Imagine that. I was leading a small rebellion against the professor when I woke up.

As I thought about the dream - yuk - I came to a conclusion. First I know that I had the dream because I have heard so many stories about liberal professors making students write papers that exemplify their personal philosophies. When Jana was at ISU she was told to wear a symbol that said she supported gay and lesbian rights and if she wouldn't do it she needed to write a five page paper on why the gay lifestyle was wrong, but she couldn't use religious arguements! Last week in Colorado a professor wanted the students to write a paper mocking Sarah Palin. There are many such incidents like these and the students usually don't have a lot of choice. This is so frustrating to me.

Back to my conclusion though. It really didn't take much thought...

The liberals are always trying to shove crap down our throats!

Bail Out

Think of those words... "bail out"... It reminds me of someone doing something illegal, being put in jail, and then expecting someone else to come up with the cash to get them out of their bad situation.

Isn't this what we are going to do in Washington DC this week? Is it really the "only thing we can do?" Sometimes I think that it really doesn't hurt people to have to suffer the consequences of bad decisions. Don't we have to deal with this in our everyday life? If we max out our credit cards and live beyond our means we don't have a "bail out" package come along to save us!

Would it really be so bad for young couples to save for the home of their dreams? Would it be bad for us to have to tighten up our belts? Look around. Even in the poorest of neighborhoods you see flat screen tv's, cell phones, and designer jeans. Is this really suffering in poverty?

I remember my grandparents talking about staying up all night to burn corncobs or buffalo chips so the kids wouldn't freeze, of grandpa walking the railroad tracks in hopes of finding some lumps of coal from the trains or setting traps by jackrabbit holes for meat for dinner. They experienced hard times.

We have no clue about sacrifice and saving and making do. Maybe it's time we did.

Proof that welfare doesn't work!

It has been interesting listening to the news during the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. A hurricane that Jana and Dave experienced first hand!

The reports on Saturday and Sunday were of people that were out cleaning up trees and debris from their property and off of the roadways. Everyone was out getting things cleaned up where it was safe to do so. Jana's ward weren't able to have Church so the men spent the day helping with the clean up, not only in their own neighborhoods, but downtown Houston. It's called taking personal responsibility!

Quite a difference from the people after Katrina. So many of the people affected by that hurricane were people who had lived their whole lives on government entitlements and couldn't or wouldn't take personal responsibility for their own lives and property. They were waiting for the government to come in and clean up their property and even to feed and cloth them and now three years later many of them are still expecting this. The government has created a dependent society to such a point that they aren't willing to help themselves. If they were in programs that expected them to give back when they received assistance they might have a different attitude about taking!

I firmly stand by the idea of giving a Hand Up and not a Hand Out!

Democrats have a hard time counting

They are yelling about McCain not knowing how many houses he has but does that really compare to this:

Obama stated he had visited 57 states with one more left to go (and he wasn't including Alaska and Hawaii)! I guess he has added a few extra states since the last time I looked we have 50 and that includes Alaska and Hawaii! Maybe he thinks he needs those extra states to win?

Obama stated that he would be the President for the next 8 to 10 years! Is he planning a takeover of the constitution to extend his term?

Now, for the shocker... The libs are claiming that Sarah Palin's baby, Trig, 4 months old is really her daughter Bristol's baby. Okay, but how do they explain that she is 5 months pregnant? Oh, maybe the babies are twins and the second one will be born in 4 months! I get it now...

A star is born and it sure ain't Barack Obama!

Okay, I have to admit that last Friday morning when I heard that McCain had chosen Palin over Romney I was mad. I was convinced that Romney should be the one and still feel like he would have been a great choice but McCain didn't listen to me! Imagine that...

Through the past week I have been reading and listening about Sarah Palin and have really liked and admired what I have found out. Many wondered if she could hold her own but after her speech last night at the RNC that shouldn't be a question now. She's an impressive woman and has accomplished a great deal. I love how she has started at the bottom of the political food chain, PTA president, and worked her way up. Let me tell you, being a PTA president isn't a walk in the park. You deal with school administration, teachers, students and organize parents. Great start!

I also love her sarcasm and wit. According to CNN many women will be offended with her sarcasm - what? She did it with a smile and with humor and I'm sure the left are scared to death! I won't go into the speech itself, go to CSPAN and listen to it and you will smile and high five through it all! She can really deliver a speech. No humming and hawing for her.

I have no doubt that she will work on issues such as drilling for oil. She has fought corruption in her own party and isn't one of the "good ole boys." I can see her really shaking up things in Washington.

The left has launched a major attack on her personal life. How can she raise 5 children including a baby with Down's? Why should that be an issue? How did Biden raise 2 boys alone and serve in the Senate? Her 17 year old daughter is pregnant! Now that's really unusual in the United States isn't it? At least she is getting married and not have an abortion paid for by Planned Parenthood. With a strong family, including grandparents, why is her child care an issue? Maybe she should be using government assistance for day care!

The interesting thing about these unfounded and biased leftist attacks is that they are mobilizing and energizing the Republican party. It's getting people interested and jumping to her defense. These attacks will soon backfire.

One observation I made was that last week while Hilary Clinton was speaking at the DNC Michelle Obama looked like she was swallowing a turd the whole time. No smiles, just a sour face. Last night Cindy McCain was smiling, laughing, and nodding constantly and showed genuine affection for Sarah.

A comment made by Biden was she didn't talk about the middle class in her speech. With Sarah, she doesn't need to talk about us because she is definitely one of us!

Oh, it doesn't hurt that her husband looks like Tim McGraw!

The American Dream has changed/Obama lowers the bar!

I have found it very interesting listening to political statements and how "proud" the democrats are of Barack Obama's upbringing. "He rose out of poverty and overcame great odds" is more or less the gist of it all. I guess attending private schools is considered poverty these days!

I am getting very tired of how often they point out how his mother used food stamps while he was growing up and while she was getting her doctorate of anthropology! Why are they so proud of the fact that she used food stamps?

I just don't get it! When Frank and I got married he made $200 a month - or $97.50 on payday! We made our trailer house payment and saved for the things we wanted, and Frank made payments on cows he purchased from local farmers. No, we never went on food stamps. When Theresa came along with no insurance, come to think of it, we never had insurance for any of our kids, we just made payments until they were paid off. No hand outs there either. We would never have dreamed of getting government "entitlements"!

Theresa went off to college and supported herself. She could have qualified for food stamps... But, that would have been embarrassing! So, it was ramen noodles, mac and cheese, and anything else she could afford.

Cindy McCain's dad sold his car to raise $10,000 to start his business. He came from and extremely poor background as well. But, by sacrificing his own property he built an American Dream! A business that was founded on good pay and benefits to his employee's and created (oh horrors) a "big business"!!!

Obama wants us all to think he is a down to earth guy just like the rest of us. Does that mean we should stick our hand out and expect government entitlements so we can get an ivy league education like he did?

I guess Obama has lowered the bar for the Great American Dream. Instead of sacrifice and hard work all you need are food stamps!
