Can you believe it?

Here is an "exchange" I had with someone named Jacqueline (her text is in red) on Facebook

I whole heartedly agree Lisa! This country's love of money and "prosperity" has done it in. Our beloved nation is so hung up on money and our "quality of life", that it can't see the way out.I recall from the New Testament Jesus telling the wealthy man that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get to heaven.

Jacqueline, I also recall that the Bible told us to be responsible for ourselves and not expect others to do everything for us. It also teaches that we give service and charity to others and not give our money to the government and have the government take those roles from us. Give your money to the poor, not to the tax man.

*It also teaches that we give service and charity to others and not give our money to the government and have the government take those roles from us*Have you ever read Matthew 22:17-21? Jesus tells the Pharisees & Herodians to give to Caesar what is Caesar's... ie: give to your government what they ask of you, as it is them who gave you your currency. From verse 20: And He said to them,"Whose image and inscription is this?" Our past presidents are on our money, our govt. has their inscriptions all over it... therefore, no matter how it pains us to do so, we are to send the money that they ask for. If you/we do not like a law, then we can be vocal and work to change it, but we are not to break laws, including not paying taxes, in our attempt to change it, in the name of God.

It says render unto Ceassr that which is Ceasars... Is the sweat from your brow earning your money, Ceasars? You talk about the Pres. on our money - those Presidents would roll over in their graves if they knew about taxing our income - which did not become an amendment until 1913. I have a pic of a horse on my checks - does that mean he is responsible for the funds to back up my checks? I give 10% of my earnings to my Church and donate to charities that I support. I also give my time - I have been the event chair for our Relay for Life, a Make A Wish grantor, and volunteer for several other community organizations - none of which I earn any income from - in fact I donate to these. I don't think it's the governments role to tax my income so that someone in Washington can decide who is worthy of my hard earned dollars. That should be my decision. The role of government should be to protect the citizens, not to baby them.
