McCain vs Obama forum

It's too bad we can't have more forums like we had on Saturday night with Pastor Warren! It was so interesting watching the two candidates react to the same questions. I am fast becoming a McCain fan after watching this forum.

Having judged various pageants their responses really made me think of them as contestants instead of candidates. When you judge a pageant you will have the contestants that I call the "pageant patty's". They are well prepared and every answer they give is rehearsed and practiced and is just what they think the judges want to hear. Usually they are non-commital when it comes to specific issues or as I call, fence-sitters. They want everyone to see how intelligent they are so they turn their response into a speech showing all sides without really giving an answer. They gage all of their responses on what they know about the judges instead of what they really feel. They come across as a rather fake person.

The other type of contestant is one who has an opinion and will give it straight out and usually without much fanfare. They usually don't repeat the question or hem and haw around trying to come up with a response. Quite often their answers can get them into trouble because they don't worry too much about whether they are giving an answer that will please the judges, they are answering from the heart without rehearsing their respsonses. You get the feeling that you are seeing the real person.

So, this was the way I viewed the forum with McCain, the straight talker, and Obama, the fake.

Now, their responses.

Obama will use his wife and grandmother for advise as the President!!! Wow, a person who isn't proud of America and a person that he only took one hour to visit with during his week in Hawaii! In plain words, he doesn't set his standards too high for advisors. But, judging from his past we can already see that!

I almost fell asleep during some of Obama's stuttering answers. Again, "let's just say what I think they want to hear," no real responses.

McCain impressed me on his no nonsense answers on abortion, marriage, evil, and even his moral shortcomings. I loved his response on education and poor teachers. Wow, that will really tick off the NEA! Also, his response on changing his mind on off-shore drilling. Hooray for him!

How about Obama saying abortions have not gone down in the last eight years with a pro-life president. What??? Hasn't he looked at the numbers? And him saying that each woman weighs the choice of having an abortion thoughtfully. Huh? They get knocked up, abort it, and move on to another one. Too many women take the easy way out and don't care because we have made it so easy to have abortions. Obama has a 100% rating from NARAL and McCain has 0%!

I loved McCain's answer on the Supreme Court judges. The difference on that question alone should tell us all something. Do we want activist judges that legislate their personal views from the bench or do we want to have judges that go by the constitution?

The problem with this whole thing is that we aren't voting for Miss America, we are voting for the President of the United States and we better make sure we vote the right person in.
