Well, if you work for, or have worked for, the big three car companies you have your retirement. As long as the unions keep sucking the life out of the car industry to pay retirement and health care benefits to everyone who ever worked for them for the rest of their lives they will need to keep stealing the taxpayers money to keep them solvent.
It's amazing to me that I have lost more than half of my retirement funds lately but these guys are guaranteed theirs and they made 3 times the wages of the ordinary American worker to top things off. Now our tax money has to keep bailing them out of trouble. Makes you sick doesn't it?
Why doesn't the government give the American taxpayer a big stimulus check ($15,000 or so) and let us go buy a new car if we want one? It's not solving the problem to just keep giving money to the car companies if no one is able to buy a new car! I would bet that the percentage of people that would buy a new car with a large stimulus check would be very high.
Common sense... Something Obama and the rest need a little more of, instead of tax money!

It's My Money and I Want It NOW!
If I were a citizen of California or Kansas I think that's what I would be yelling today. These states have overspent their budgets and guess who gets to pay for it? Of course, the taxpayers. Which is normal, right? But not in this circumstance it shouldn't be.
We have always been told that if you owe the government taxes then it is NOT your money to spend. If you do and can't pay your taxes then you can be prosecuted by the law. We have been in the position where we couldn't always pay our bills but do you think we could have used our income tax money to pay them? Nope.
Does this money belong to the State? No. It belongs to those people who have overpaid their taxes and deserve a refund. Wouldn't we be prosecuted if we tried to keep money that belonged to someone else?
I think if I lived in a State that did this I would do what most illegals do, put 9 dependants on my I9! That's how they get out of paying taxes on their income.
And that brings up the point that maybe California is suffering so much because of all of the illegals in their state. Some would claim that they pay taxes when they work. I beg to differ on that point. Most will claim 6 to 9 dependants, even 18 year olds! So therefore they don't pay any taxes but they qualify for all of the government assistance programs available and they know how to get it!

One little, two little, three little...
I love kids just as much as the next mom but I sure wonder about this woman! A single woman, who has filed bankruptcy, who has lived off of disability, and who lives with her parents has just had octuplets through invitro. Her other six kids were also invitro. Why? She loves babies... I would think that if you loved and wanted lots of kids then maybe adoption would have been a better option.
But, this doesn't all bug me as much as the the thought of who is going to pay for all of this? That's pretty well a no-brainer. The tax payer of course. I think she was hoping for lots of offers from baby companies, etc but they have kept their distance on this one.
Is she capable of giving these kids a good home? Sure, I know a family from Mud Lake that raised a huge family in a two bedroom basement home and they all turned out well. They had both parents and even though they didn't have much you never felt like the kids were neglected. I'm also pretty sure that the parents didn't expect handouts for their family.
I think that if a woman expects the government to pay for her kids then maybe there should be a limit. She can have as many as she wants but there should be a cutoff of payments for more than four kids or something like that. Too many women are making a "career" of having kids and then living off of welfare. It's just too bad that the kids are the ones that suffer from these situations. Where is personal accountability from these people?
I guess that as long as we are a society that feels guilty for every supposed wrong that someone flings at us we won't figure out that giving handouts is not the way to salve our conscience.
