What are they thinking?
I think that if groveling at the feet of dictators and terrorists is making us more likeable in the world then I want no part of it. It's like going into a prison and telling the inmates that you are ashamed of the justice system and think we should do away with it.
We need to show strength in this world or we will be run by the ideology of those countries, which I for one have no desire to do. When you try to appease those with which you don't agree, you end up giving in to them. We are losing the battles here in the states by giving into those who don't like "God" or prayer and many more moral issues because we want to appease these people and "get along" with them.
Sometimes you just have to stand up and fight for your beliefs, even if they aren't popular or what the world likes. I for one think that this is a totally politically motivated move to bring the US closer to a socialist nation that embraces ideologies that we have so long fought against. They are trying to "force" the President into making decisions on the wars we are currently in. IMHO

What a Role Model!
President Obama made history this week! He spoke to the kids about staying in school and getting an education! Wow, what a guy! The liberals were touting this as a history-making event. No President has ever done this before...
I started thinking about the things that make this man a role model.
He's always late. It doesn't matter if the nation is waiting for one of his "important" speeches or events. He always makes sure that everyone is on the edge of their seats with anticipation, awaiting for him to make his appearance. I was always taught that it's bad manners to make people wait on you.
He smokes. Of course he's trying to quit. Now that's a good role model for kids to follow. And he's preaching about health care...
He surrounds himself with liars, thieves, tax cheats, and terrorists for friends. Aren't we always preaching to our kids that the people you hang around shows the type of person you are?
He insists that religious markings are covered before he will speak at a podium. He doesn't have a National Day of Prayer. He can't decide on the Church he should attend. This speaks for itself, doesn't it?
He brags about being on food stamps and other programs. Shouldn't we be teaching our kids not to even consider this unless it's the last resort? And should we be proud that we have done it? I think self-reliance is more important.
Just these few items suggest to me that Obama is not a good role model for children or for that matter, adults!

Can you believe it?
Here is an "exchange" I had with someone named Jacqueline (her text is in red) on Facebook
I whole heartedly agree Lisa! This country's love of money and "prosperity" has done it in. Our beloved nation is so hung up on money and our "quality of life", that it can't see the way out.I recall from the New Testament Jesus telling the wealthy man that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get to heaven.
Jacqueline, I also recall that the Bible told us to be responsible for ourselves and not expect others to do everything for us. It also teaches that we give service and charity to others and not give our money to the government and have the government take those roles from us. Give your money to the poor, not to the tax man.
*It also teaches that we give service and charity to others and not give our money to the government and have the government take those roles from us*Have you ever read Matthew 22:17-21? Jesus tells the Pharisees & Herodians to give to Caesar what is Caesar's... ie: give to your government what they ask of you, as it is them who gave you your currency. From verse 20: And He said to them,"Whose image and inscription is this?" Our past presidents are on our money, our govt. has their inscriptions all over it... therefore, no matter how it pains us to do so, we are to send the money that they ask for. If you/we do not like a law, then we can be vocal and work to change it, but we are not to break laws, including not paying taxes, in our attempt to change it, in the name of God.
It says render unto Ceassr that which is Ceasars... Is the sweat from your brow earning your money, Ceasars? You talk about the Pres. on our money - those Presidents would roll over in their graves if they knew about taxing our income - which did not become an amendment until 1913. I have a pic of a horse on my checks - does that mean he is responsible for the funds to back up my checks? I give 10% of my earnings to my Church and donate to charities that I support. I also give my time - I have been the event chair for our Relay for Life, a Make A Wish grantor, and volunteer for several other community organizations - none of which I earn any income from - in fact I donate to these. I don't think it's the governments role to tax my income so that someone in Washington can decide who is worthy of my hard earned dollars. That should be my decision. The role of government should be to protect the citizens, not to baby them.

What's the rush?
For a guy who took over four months to decide on a dog, and still hasn't made a decision on a Church to attend he sure is in a hurry to push through his agenda.
Push, push, push! Let's push through more stimulus money. Let's push those Gitmo prisoners out into the world. Let's get Sotomayor pushed through. Push through more czars! Push GM into government takeover mode. Let's push through a universal health care plan.
What's the rush Prez Obama? If you can't decide on how to worship God, then why do we have to be rushed into accepting your agenda? These are important issues with huge pieces of legislation that needs to be read, discussed and voted on properly. What's the rush? Are you worried that someone might actually pay attention if you slow this down a bit?

Practice what you preach
We visited with a young family recently that are very big Al Gore fans. They argued that we all need to limit the size of vehicles, homes, etc. to help the planet go green. And, that the oil industry is a major pollutant of the planet. All the while we were debating these issues they had two vehicles sitting out front of a very nice home, a mini-van and a 4-door full sized pickup truck, which happened to be furnished by his oil field company which pays him big bucks!
I fully agree that we all need to become good stewards of this planet but swallowing Al Gore's hoax hook, line, and sinker is completely ludicrous. Especially since Al Gore owns something like 4 homes that suck down large amounts of power and natural gas. It's reported that his main home consumes more power in one month than an average home does in a year. And his pool uses $500 worth of natural gas a month!
Come on people. If you preach and truly believe, shouldn't you practice it as well?

Are you scared yet?
Come on, even if you voted for Obama, you must admit that you must be getting a little bit scared about the direction he is taking this country!
The first sign of a true dictator is to tell people what's really good for them because we probably aren't as smart as he is and he knows better. Green is good for us. Taking over private business is good for us. Cap and trade is good for us. Taking control of health care is good for us. Telling us what size car is good for us. Telling farmers what to plant is good for us. Telling us that we need to pay for abortions and birth control in other countries is good for us. Telling us to stay away from Vegas and not fly in private jets is good for us. Unions are good for us. Telling profitable businesses that they must close their doors is good for us. The list goes on and on and is getting longer every day!
Well, we can vote him out in four years, right? The day of free and fair elections is gone here in the good ole USA. The dems are making sure that illegals will have the "right" to vote and ACORN will continue in their arrogant ways. "Obama is good for us. We love Obama. Obama is good for us." Remember that clip?
We all need to pay more taxes on just about everything he can think of: cows emitting gas, cell phones provided by our employer, driving too many miles in our car, this list too, goes on and on. What are these taxes going for? Well, for Queen Pelosi to jet back and forth. For a Pres that can't stay in DC for more than 24 hours. For a "date night". For Barney Frank to hand out favors to his gay little friends.
Do I sound angry? You damn right. And are we going to do anything about this guy? This guy that says we are too arrogant, that we wave our little tea bags, and that we need to be more like Europe? Let's take our country back people!

It's time to de-throne Queen Pelosi
How much more can this woman get away with? Her prima-donna ways and lying is getting way too much. Nancy Pelosi thinks she is some kind of queen and expects everyone to give her a pass no what she says or does.
She lives on a double standard. This woman thinks she can tell corporate executives (and no I am not defending their excessiveness) that they should not be allowed to have corporate jets at their disposal but she can have do so at the taxpayers expense! Corporate America usually have offices throughout the country and world and several officers that utilize their jets. Time is money in corporate America.
Queen Pelosi thinks she is above traveling on commercial airlines and insists on having her own jet. And, she insists on having one of the most expensive jets the government uses. I could go on for hours on her excessiveness using tax payers money.
Now she is outright lying about her knowledge of "enhanced interrogation techniques". This woman has changed her story so many times about this one issue. It's not the first time she has lied but hopefully this time she has her feet held to the fire. This wouldn't even be an issue but she has been the one making such a big deal about the "torture" of those poor Gitmo detainees and has pushed to have the Bush adminstration prosecuted for doing the things that she knew about.
It's time to de-throne this liberal, money sucking, arrogant queen!

Retirement, what's that?
Well, if you work for, or have worked for, the big three car companies you have your retirement. As long as the unions keep sucking the life out of the car industry to pay retirement and health care benefits to everyone who ever worked for them for the rest of their lives they will need to keep stealing the taxpayers money to keep them solvent.
It's amazing to me that I have lost more than half of my retirement funds lately but these guys are guaranteed theirs and they made 3 times the wages of the ordinary American worker to top things off. Now our tax money has to keep bailing them out of trouble. Makes you sick doesn't it?
Why doesn't the government give the American taxpayer a big stimulus check ($15,000 or so) and let us go buy a new car if we want one? It's not solving the problem to just keep giving money to the car companies if no one is able to buy a new car! I would bet that the percentage of people that would buy a new car with a large stimulus check would be very high.
Common sense... Something Obama and the rest need a little more of, instead of tax money!

It's My Money and I Want It NOW!
If I were a citizen of California or Kansas I think that's what I would be yelling today. These states have overspent their budgets and guess who gets to pay for it? Of course, the taxpayers. Which is normal, right? But not in this circumstance it shouldn't be.
We have always been told that if you owe the government taxes then it is NOT your money to spend. If you do and can't pay your taxes then you can be prosecuted by the law. We have been in the position where we couldn't always pay our bills but do you think we could have used our income tax money to pay them? Nope.
Does this money belong to the State? No. It belongs to those people who have overpaid their taxes and deserve a refund. Wouldn't we be prosecuted if we tried to keep money that belonged to someone else?
I think if I lived in a State that did this I would do what most illegals do, put 9 dependants on my I9! That's how they get out of paying taxes on their income.
And that brings up the point that maybe California is suffering so much because of all of the illegals in their state. Some would claim that they pay taxes when they work. I beg to differ on that point. Most will claim 6 to 9 dependants, even 18 year olds! So therefore they don't pay any taxes but they qualify for all of the government assistance programs available and they know how to get it!

One little, two little, three little...
I love kids just as much as the next mom but I sure wonder about this woman! A single woman, who has filed bankruptcy, who has lived off of disability, and who lives with her parents has just had octuplets through invitro. Her other six kids were also invitro. Why? She loves babies... I would think that if you loved and wanted lots of kids then maybe adoption would have been a better option.
But, this doesn't all bug me as much as the the thought of who is going to pay for all of this? That's pretty well a no-brainer. The tax payer of course. I think she was hoping for lots of offers from baby companies, etc but they have kept their distance on this one.
Is she capable of giving these kids a good home? Sure, I know a family from Mud Lake that raised a huge family in a two bedroom basement home and they all turned out well. They had both parents and even though they didn't have much you never felt like the kids were neglected. I'm also pretty sure that the parents didn't expect handouts for their family.
I think that if a woman expects the government to pay for her kids then maybe there should be a limit. She can have as many as she wants but there should be a cutoff of payments for more than four kids or something like that. Too many women are making a "career" of having kids and then living off of welfare. It's just too bad that the kids are the ones that suffer from these situations. Where is personal accountability from these people?
I guess that as long as we are a society that feels guilty for every supposed wrong that someone flings at us we won't figure out that giving handouts is not the way to salve our conscience.

I hate to say I told you so...
They haven't even crowned Obama King yet and already I am seriously scared for our nation. As I have listened to family and friends say they want to give him a chance it makes my blood run cold. A chance to do what? To turn this nation into a liberal, socialist society? Well folks, it's headed there!
Obama wants to create 600,000 new government jobs. I say Viva La France to that one!
All abortions will soon become legal...
As well as liberal judges overturning the votes of the people on the definition of marriage.
We now have a global warming post. I guess they haven't noticed this is one of the coldest winters on record for some places.
Most of the "criminals" in the news have one person in common - Obama.
I could go on and on about his choices for different posts but the one that truly frightens me is Cass Sunstein to run the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. He is will be chief regulatory czar. And, he is a dedicated animal "rights" zealot!!!
He stated in his book that "Animals should be permitted to bring suit, with human beings as their representatives."
So the next time you decide you want to ride your horse, someone might see you and decide that your big fat butt is too heavy and bring a lawsuit against you for your horse! Think it's crazy? Well, some people thought that being told coffee is hot was too.
Hunting will not be allowed. Medical research, forget it if it involves lab rats. Steak suppers will be replaced with tofu. Seeing eye dogs are considered slaves.
This man has made it known that he thinks animals have rights and he will soon be in the position to enforce those rights!
Thanks Obama!

Closing the door on Christmas
I get so frustrated as I listen to the news every night through the Christmas season. It seems like there are constant attacks on our right to have Christmas trees, parties, Nativity scenes, lights, music, you name it!
This morning I heard a story about a woman suing a school district because they were putting on a Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer concert! What? The song says, "And then one foggy Christmas Eve." So, this woman doesn't want her daughter exposed to this! I have had just about enough!
I'll bet if she is a working woman she will take Christmas Day off and expect to be paid for it. I bet she expects the same on Easter. They are considered Federal holidays in this country. It's not Winter Holiday - it's recognized as a Christian Holiday and we celebrate it as a nation.
Does anyone think that maybe there's a correlation these days with the downturn our country is experiencing. We've turned our backs on God and all things Godly. Aren't we supposed to be a blessed nation, above all others? Well, if we keep going we won't receive those blessings because we are trying so hard to be like the rest the world.
I find it rather ironic that we have opened our doors as a nation to so many and embrace other cultures and beliefs and how are we being repaid? They want to shut the door on our Christian traditions.
It's time for us to NO, this isn't going to happen. Boycott those businesses that refuse to say Merry Christmas, such as Costco. On the other hand, support and thank those businesses that do say Merry Christmas in their advertising and displays. Write Merry Christmas on your cards instead of Seasons Greetings. Display your Nativity Scenes proudly. Let your congressman know how you feel about any legislation that takes Christianity out of our nation. Write letters to the editor. And, shout out Merry Christmas every time you get a chance!

Looking Ahead
Okay, I admit it, I shed a couple of tears last night... Not because I am so proud of our country because we elected the first black President but because I think we are headed for real changes in the future of our country.
Changes that I don't think will take us in a positive direction. Besides the changes that Obama has in mind for us the following issues were voted on:
South Dakota defeated a ban on abortion.
Colorado rejected a measure that would have made abortion the legal equivalent of murder by defining that human life begins at conception.
Michigan voted to allow medical use of marijuana.
Washington also will be allowing doctor-assisted suicide.
Wow, the people who are so pro-Obama are also so against the right to life, aren't they?
But, a couple of states have blocked gay marriage so that is a bright spot for us. Florida, Arizona, and California are standing up for a marriage between one man, one woman! It's quite a victory considering how the voting went.
Now, for another bright spot from this election. Who will the liberals hate and blame for the next few years? Will they turn on their own? It will be interesting to watch.
As for me - GO MITT in 2012!!!

Obama Supports Slavery
What? Yes, I said that Obama supports slavery. Oh, maybe not the type that holds the black man against his will to work in the fields and answer "Yes, master," but the type of slavery that binds people and their lives so they end up with no control of their own.
He supports massive entitlements and welfare programs. As people become dependant on food stamps, health care, subsidized housing, educational grants, and all of the other programs he promotes they will quickly lose their will to do anything for themselves.
We seen a good example of this during Hurricane Katrina. The people who wouldn't leave before they received their welfare checks expected to come in on Friday; the people who complained about not having good food in the shelters; the people who complained about the housing provided for them; the the people who complained that the government wasn't getting their places cleaned up for them; the people who are still living off of the government...
Aren't these people slaves to the government? Isn't this what Obama wants of us all? The more that is given, the more that is expected.

Changes I am afraid of!
Hearing the "changes" that will be coming if Obama is elected should terrify all good conservatives. Some of the changes that are really scary to me include:
Spreading the wealth or in other words, Socialism. Since when should it be that the people who work hard to get ahead should have a ball and chain consisting of the lazy faction of our society? This can put quite a drag on those who are ambitious and are willing to work extra hours to build a business, grow extra crops, or do a better job for the boss. How long will it take before they get tired of carrying the load?
Freedom of Speech. It won't take long for freedom of speech to be shut down with the "freedom of information" act. Look at Joe the Plumber or the tv reporter in Florida when they ask Obama or Biden questions that haven't been spoon fed. No more interviews or their private lives become an object of investigation and ridicule to the liberals. Isn't this what has happened with Chavez and other dictators? How long will it take before we aren't allowed this freedom?
Family Values will be a thing of past. With liberal judges legislating from the bench abortion, gay marriage, and other tenants of liberal thinking will erode the idea of the family unit. Our children will be taught whatever they deem appropriate in school and we won't have a choice in the matter. How long will it take before the family unit will no longer exist?
Minority Rules. We know that Obama has done very little as a Senator but the things he has done has all been for the benefit of minorities to make them "equal". How long will it take before a white, middle class person will have no rights compared to the minorities?
The Second Amendment. Owning a gun doesn't seem like a big deal as we have had the right since the inception of the constitution. And, maybe with Obama we will be able to continue this right, maybe. But his voting record says not. And, if we are able to own a gun he will make purchasing the ammunition illegal. How long will it take before they demand all guns be turned into the government?
Are we really willing to give up our basic freedoms? The freedom to drive the car of our choice. The freedom to build a business. The freedom listen to talk radio. The freedom to teach our children that marriage is between a man and a woman. The freedom to go to the doctor of our choice. The freedom to ask "hard" questions of a political candidate. The freedom to have a fair trial. The freedom to go hunting. The list goes on....
There are so many things that this man has covered up and I think it's time people open their eyes and see what kind of change we will really get!

Still mourning Mitt Romney
Lat night Frank and I attended a rally out to Riverbend Ranch (belongs to Frank VanderSloot and my Frank's old stomping grounds). It was held to gain support for Jim Risch who is running for the US Senate. It was well attended but the biggest draw was the guest speaker - Mitt Romney.
The 1 1/2 hours that we spent there were interesting. Romney and Risch were entertaining a group of "local businessmen" at the "big house" (VanderSloot's home) at a dinner that was rumored to cost $2300 a plate. While they were finishing up there, the "poor folk" was being entertained and informed at the barn by several local politicians running for office.
When the group from the dinner arrived it was very nice that the crowd gave a big standing ovation to Frank and Belinda in recognition for all of the good he does for our community.
Mitt Romney gave the introduction for Jim Risch. First impressions... He is very tall and thin and looked almost haggard. I don't know if that is the way he always looks but it really surprised me as I thought he looked very tired. But, on the other hand he didn't come across that way. He laughed and joked and had the crowd very excited to see him. There were several references throughout the night about him running for President and you could tell the crowd had definitely been in his camp!
Jim Risch did a nice job and was very well spoken and convincing. I will take a closer look at him but am ready to jump on board to support him now. Heck, I even took a couple of posters to put up!
My overall impressions of the evening was that they kept it flowing well with short speeches, some crowd interaction (not much though), and everyone there was excited to have the opportunity to be there. If you were a republican you came away with a "let's win" attitude.
It was nice to see Frank and Belinda as we haven't seen them since Frank quit working at the ranch. Belinda gave us hugs and teased Frank about not wearing boots and a hat! They are good people who have used their wealth for good.

Really, Really Gross Dream...
Okay, I had a dream the other night and it sure in the heck wasn't the "great American dream!"
I dreamed that I was taking a college class and the professor told us that we had to eat our feces!!! Gross, I know... The class was told that it was absolutely required and if we didn't do it we would flunk. We were to write a paper on the experience.
I watched as many of students were trying different things so that they could stomach doing it. One lady made soup and had her little "turds" floating in it and was trying to gag it down. It was too much for me and so I rebelled. Imagine that. I was leading a small rebellion against the professor when I woke up.
As I thought about the dream - yuk - I came to a conclusion. First I know that I had the dream because I have heard so many stories about liberal professors making students write papers that exemplify their personal philosophies. When Jana was at ISU she was told to wear a symbol that said she supported gay and lesbian rights and if she wouldn't do it she needed to write a five page paper on why the gay lifestyle was wrong, but she couldn't use religious arguements! Last week in Colorado a professor wanted the students to write a paper mocking Sarah Palin. There are many such incidents like these and the students usually don't have a lot of choice. This is so frustrating to me.
Back to my conclusion though. It really didn't take much thought...
The liberals are always trying to shove crap down our throats!

Bail Out
Think of those words... "bail out"... It reminds me of someone doing something illegal, being put in jail, and then expecting someone else to come up with the cash to get them out of their bad situation.
Isn't this what we are going to do in Washington DC this week? Is it really the "only thing we can do?" Sometimes I think that it really doesn't hurt people to have to suffer the consequences of bad decisions. Don't we have to deal with this in our everyday life? If we max out our credit cards and live beyond our means we don't have a "bail out" package come along to save us!
Would it really be so bad for young couples to save for the home of their dreams? Would it be bad for us to have to tighten up our belts? Look around. Even in the poorest of neighborhoods you see flat screen tv's, cell phones, and designer jeans. Is this really suffering in poverty?
I remember my grandparents talking about staying up all night to burn corncobs or buffalo chips so the kids wouldn't freeze, of grandpa walking the railroad tracks in hopes of finding some lumps of coal from the trains or setting traps by jackrabbit holes for meat for dinner. They experienced hard times.
We have no clue about sacrifice and saving and making do. Maybe it's time we did.

Proof that welfare doesn't work!
It has been interesting listening to the news during the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. A hurricane that Jana and Dave experienced first hand!
The reports on Saturday and Sunday were of people that were out cleaning up trees and debris from their property and off of the roadways. Everyone was out getting things cleaned up where it was safe to do so. Jana's ward weren't able to have Church so the men spent the day helping with the clean up, not only in their own neighborhoods, but downtown Houston. It's called taking personal responsibility!
Quite a difference from the people after Katrina. So many of the people affected by that hurricane were people who had lived their whole lives on government entitlements and couldn't or wouldn't take personal responsibility for their own lives and property. They were waiting for the government to come in and clean up their property and even to feed and cloth them and now three years later many of them are still expecting this. The government has created a dependent society to such a point that they aren't willing to help themselves. If they were in programs that expected them to give back when they received assistance they might have a different attitude about taking!
I firmly stand by the idea of giving a Hand Up and not a Hand Out!

Democrats have a hard time counting
They are yelling about McCain not knowing how many houses he has but does that really compare to this:
Obama stated he had visited 57 states with one more left to go (and he wasn't including Alaska and Hawaii)! I guess he has added a few extra states since the last time I looked we have 50 and that includes Alaska and Hawaii! Maybe he thinks he needs those extra states to win?
Obama stated that he would be the President for the next 8 to 10 years! Is he planning a takeover of the constitution to extend his term?
Now, for the shocker... The libs are claiming that Sarah Palin's baby, Trig, 4 months old is really her daughter Bristol's baby. Okay, but how do they explain that she is 5 months pregnant? Oh, maybe the babies are twins and the second one will be born in 4 months! I get it now...
